Precision at Every Stage

European CNC equipment, CAD/CAM engineering, and traditional craftsmanship in our Dawson Creek facility.

CNC router cutting cabinet components

Our Equipment

We run industrial-grade European equipment — the same manufacturers used by commercial millwork shops throughout North America and Europe. This means tighter tolerances, better repeatability, and finishes that hold up in demanding commercial environments.

Our CNC router handles precision routing, drilling, and machining of sheet goods, solid wood, and composite materials. Alongside it, a vertical machining center machines single parts on five sides, including entry doors and countertops. Our automatic edge bander handles pre-milling, corner rounding, and edge buffing with consistent results across various adhesive types — essential for the clean, durable edges required on commercial and institutional work. Our Kremlin Rexson air-assisted airless finishing system delivers consistent, production-quality results on cabinets, doors, and architectural millwork.

Shop air quality is maintained by a state-of-the-art dust extraction and air cleaning system meeting European H-class filtration standards — a higher benchmark than HEPA — ensuring a clean, safe working environment for our team.

Alongside our CNC equipment, the shop is fully equipped with traditional stationary machinery including sliding panel saws, spindle shapers, jointers, planers, and a complete complement of power tools. We also use precision joinery systems including Lamello and Domino for fast, accurate connections in solid wood and furniture work.

CAD/CAM Engineering

Every project starts on screen before anything is cut. We engineer in Microvellum — a full parametric cabinetry design and engineering platform that produces shop drawings, cut lists, CNC code, and material take-offs from a single model. We also use AutoCAD for 2D drafting and coordination with architectural drawings.

This workflow means fewer errors, better coordination with architectural drawings, and full documentation for contractors and building officials. For complex commercial projects, we can produce detailed submission packages.

Software

RSA actively integrates current AI tools into our engineering and production workflows — from drawing analysis and specification review to project documentation — keeping our process efficient, accurate, and aligned with where the industry is heading.

Traditional Skills

CNC equipment handles precision and repeatability. Traditional skills handle everything else — joinery layout, fitting, hand-finishing details, and the judgment calls that no program can make. Our team includes certified Red Seal joiners alongside apprentices working toward their designations.

For custom furniture, architectural details, and one-of-a-kind pieces, traditional hand-tool work is often the only way to achieve the quality and character the project deserves.

Built to Specification

AWMAC

RSA Custom Finishing is a manufacturing member of AWMAC BC Chapter — the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada. AWMAC membership and the standards it sets are referenced by architects and specifiers on commercial and institutional projects across the country.

NAAWS Standards

North American Architectural Woodwork Standards (NAAWS) provides the technical specifications for materials, construction methods, and installation that architects and specifiers reference. All RSA projects are engineered to comply with applicable NAAWS requirements.

accessible design / Accessibility

We design and engineer accessible cabinetry meeting BC Building Code standards and millwork for public buildings and healthcare facilities. Counter heights, clear floor space, hardware reach ranges, and knee clearances are all engineered to specification as required by the project.

Red Seal Tradespeople & Apprenticeship

Our shop employs Red Seal certified joiners whose qualifications are recognized across Canada under the Interprovincial Standards Program — the national benchmark for trades certification. We are committed to apprenticeship training and actively support initiatives to bring more women and underrepresented people into the skilled trades. We believe a diverse workforce makes our industry stronger, and we welcome apprentices from all backgrounds who want to build a career in joinery and architectural woodwork.
